About Polyu Green Marketplace
Polyu Green Marketplace is founded in 2013 for our students and staff in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. You can see the most updated related events in PolyU, vegetarian food recipe, and our 2-hand online market.
Our misson
Our Goal is to cultivate the mindset of environmental-friendly in PolyU campus and put it into practice in student’s daily life such as PolyU Green Garden. Students are our next generations, contributing to a better environment in the world.
We act to
- Absorb and Act: Grow a community to learn about and take action to protect the natural environment.
- Educational: Raise awareness in the PolyU community about diverse environmental topics and issues on- and off-campus.
- Innovation: Incubate student projects that may become free-standing aspects of sustainability on campus.
- Collaborate: Promote green practice to peers, family and friends to effect change toward a more environmentally sustainable campus and world.
Our core values
- Non-profitable. There is no transaction fee/profit is earned during any transaction. We only accept individual contributions, with some grants from charitable foundations, and funding from Hong Kong Polytechic University.
- Promoting green practice in the campus. We start spreading the view of environmental-friendly in the campus, impacting students to step further in daily life, influencing family and friends, and hence changing the society.
- Ethical. The 2-hand marketplace is ethical buying with ease of purchase online.
- Reduce Waste with 3Rs
- Recycling items instead of throwing them away as garbage helps the global environment in that it conserves natural resources. Let’s work together to reduce garbage and reuse recyclable resources.
- Reduce: Reduce items that will become garbage. For example, do not buy unnecessary items.
- Reuse: Make the most of items without throwing them away. For example, use the same bottle over and over again.
Recycle: Process items into recyclable resources. For example, separate old paper, bottles, and cans and dispose of them as recyclable resources.
